Mobile phone carrier AT&T has just announced the availability of its U-verse Mobile application on a wider range of handsets than before, offering more users of devices running under Android or Windows Phone the possibility to enjoy TV shows while on the go.

Starting today, the AT&T U-verse Mobile application is available for Android devices like LG Thrive, LG Phoenix and Samsung Infuse 4G, as well as on the HTC HD7S, a Windows Phone-powered device.

With the addition of these phones to the list of supported devices, AT&T is making its U-verse Mobile application available on over 20 handsets running under four major operating systems.

Moreover, the app offers access to a number of more than 100 TV series, as well as for more than 700 TV shows from various genres.

“As you’re heading out for your summer road trip or vacation, U-verse Mobile is a great app to keep the family entertained, and at no extra cost,” said Jeff Weber, vice president of video services, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

“Our U-verse TV customers can get popular shows on our most popular smartphones and watch from anywhere, and we’ll continue to expand the choices and availability.”

With U-verse Mobile, the company's U-verse TV subscribers are offered the possibility to browse the U-verse TV program guide, and to easily schedule and manage DVR recordings.

Moreover, provided that they have qualifying TV plans, they are also offered the possibility to watch hit TV shows while on the go, straight on their supported smartphones.

The wireless carrier also notes that it is focused on making TV watching available for more customers on a wider range of devices. Hit TV shows are now available on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, U-verse TV on Xbox 360, and U-verse Mobile.

While the scheduling and managing of DVR recordings is available for free for all U-verse TV customers via U-verse Mobile, the downloading and streaming of TV shows is available at no extra charge only for those who purchased the U200 package or higher.

Mobile video viewing has become increasingly important to consumers. According to the Nielsen Cross-Platform Report, mobile viewing has increased 41 percent over the last year and more than 100 percent since 2009,” the wireless carrier notes.

“In August 2010, AT&T was the first TV provider to offer an integrated mobile app that allows you to both manage your DVR and download and watch select shows. U-verse Mobile has continued to expand to more devices and to offer more television shows.”
