No word on launch date

Though the netbook market has been showing signs of slowdown, it is far from ceasing its ascent, which is exactly why major PC suppliers are still very much active in this area. Just about a day ago, it was revealed that ASUS was planning on unleashing the Eee PC 900AX mobile PC, as was shown by an FCC filing. This much, however, does not seem to be enough of a refresh for the company, which seems to be almost ready to start shipping two more Eee PCs.

Amazon.de seems to have done it again, in the way that it found a pair of unreleased products and listed them before they were officially introduced. In this case, the two netbooks that ASUS is finishing up are the Eee PC R101 and R101PX. As one would expect, they both make use of the very same platform that has been featured in all netbooks launched over the past few months. As such, they are powered by the Intel Atom N450 CPU, which has a clock speed of 1.66GHz. The other similarities between the two mobile PCs are the amount of RAM, namely 1GB, the screen resolution of 1024 x 600 and, last but not least, the GMA 3150 integrated graphics.

The Eee PC R101 and R101PX are set apart by their choice of OS, their storage space and, consequently, their overall price. The latter, predictably the more capable of the duo, comes with Windows 7 Starter and boasts an HDD with 250GB storage, whereas the former boasts only 160GB and runs Windows XP. On the other hand, the R101 reaches a lower price point than its sibling, which may make it more appealing for the value sector.

The Eee PC R101 has a price of 249 Euro, whereas end-users interested in the R101PX will have to relinquish 299 Euro. Unfortunately, there is no indication of when the computer maker starts shipping either device, though it is quite possible that they will arrive around mid-May.
