Although it's focused mostly on its Fusion APUs and consumer-grade Radeon HD graphics cards lately, AMD seems to be quite keen on not leaving its FirePro series of professional GPUs lag behind, and for this reason, it has just unveiled the AMD FirePro 2270 and ATI FirePro V5800 DVI models. The first FirePro model we'll talk about as follows, namely the AMD FirePro 2270, is touted as being the company's only low-profile, passively cooled, dual-display, triple set support solution graphics card, that also features an energy efficient design that requires a 15 watts maximum power and less than 10 watts on average.

Furthermore, the card also delivers legacy support for DisplayPort, DVI and VGA connectivity, which means enables a higher level of versatility during use, and can attain a maximum digital resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels by using 512MB of graphics memory.

Next in line comes the ATI FirePro V5800 DVI model, targeting professionals requiring two high-resolution dual link DVI displays and featuring a full 30-bit display pipeline to enable increased color reproduction.

Moreover, the card also packs 800 Stream processors and an 128-bit Memory Interface (1GB GDDR5 memory), a 64 GB/s memory bandwidth, and support for a max resolution of 2560x2048, at 60Hz with packed pixel mode.

"Because of their superior power consumption and multi-display capabilities, solutions based on the AMD FirePro 2270 and ATI FirePro V5800 DVI deliver strong value for financial, medical and corporate workstation environments," said Janet Matsuda, general manager, AMD Professional Graphics, adding that "with the AMD FirePro family, we continue to demonstrate our focus on enhancing productivity through an enhanced visual experience."

Despite targeting a professional audience, the new FirePro graphics cards aren't exactly hugely expensive, the ATI FirePro 2270 starting at $149 US SEP and ATI FirePro V5800 DVI starting at $469 US SEP.
