Merry Christmas to you too, Sony!

You've probably heard about the latest PSP and PS3 firmware versions, hitting your consoles yesterday. Well, aside from the features list we've already shown you, they bring a couple of extra goodies that fans of the old PSX games will surely love. While checking out PlayStation Forums and their updates on this piece of info we stumbled upon great news: you'll be able to play ALL of the PlayStation titles you loved on your PSP console, via Remote Play.

This is probably the best Christmas present a fanatic gamer could get, considering the replay value of the old-school titles, their fairly basic control schemes and brilliant storylines. The only problem is that, by now many PSP owners have already played PSX titles on their handhelds, by downloading the illegal versions, created by homebrewers. I've played my share of PlayStation games till now, so I can give you some valuable piece of advice, if you'll listen to my humble opinion.

I would begin by playing Final Fantasy VII, the original title, that spawned tons of sequels and even a CG movie. In case you get stuck while playing in, we've got a bunch of codes and hints to save the day. Second you'll surely dig Metal Gear Solid, another classic, with a deep storyline a superb soundtrack. Of course, there's always FIFA 98 if you want to giggle with your friends at those strange moving pixels we called footballers back in the days. Don't forget about Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2, two cult games, and blockbusters racing titles on the PSX.

Let me take a lucky guess and assume that everyone's favorite PSX title to be played on the PSP will be Crash Bandicoot, in any of three main installments in the series that rocked the original console. Since Crash of the Titans doesn't have enough "juice" to get you going, you might consider giving good old Cortex and Crash a spin. Keep your eyes peeled for more enhancements featured in the firmware updates and feel free to comment on this article and mention which game you'll play first on your PSP.
