Today ADATA announced the introduction of its new series of BN power supply units that are targeting consumer and professional users who are looking for economical solutions with an energy efficient design.

The BN series models come with 80PLUS Bronze certification, which means that the power supply units must have an efficiency of at least 82%, no matter the load that is placed on them.

Furthermore, the PSUs should be able to convert at least 85% of the power drawn from the outlet to direct current when used at half of their rated capacity.

Right now, the BN series comprises four models and their outputs are listed at 400W, 450W, 500W and 550W, respectively.

All of these meet both the requirements of the European Energy Using Products Directive (EuP) and that of the American Energy Star 5.0 standard.

Other features include an active PFC circuit (that is rated at 95% efficiency by ADATA), and protection against over voltage (OVP), under voltage (UVP), over current (OCP), over temperature (OTP), over power (OPP), and short-circuit (SCP).

The output power is provided via two 12V rails and the units are cooled by a 120mm fan that ADATA states it provides quiet operation as it's rotation speed is set according to the operating temperatures.

The BN series PSUs are compatible with the Intel ATX 12 V v2.2 and v2.31 regulations.

No details regarding the output currents of the power supply units are available in the press release accompanying the launch or on the company's website.

ADATA has already started to distribute the BN series power supply units through selected distributors and resellers and the 400W, 450W and 500W units are priced at €60, €63 and €66, respectively.
