Start it indoors and it might blow your roof away

In a world full of Windows-based computers, Vista is the newest hottie. Many hardware manufacturers have produced compatible hardware for Windows Vista's ReadyBoost, one of them being OCZ Technology which has sprung to outer space with their VBoost line of Flash drives.

ReadyBoost "is very practical" with flash memories, the so-called pendrives and uses them to store temporary files. The performance of applications is greatly improved due to these devices and Microsoft can confirm it; they can load faster and even if nobody guarantees applications won't crash, we're still talking about Windows. The most important aspect is that the 1GB, 2GB or 4GB are good replacements for CDs or even DVDs and the high data transfer rates ReadyBoost requires are more than sufficient for transferring files in between computers. Alex Mei, Executive VP of OCZ Technology Group said that the VBoost drive "is optimized for fast easy access and increases system performance when paired with the Microsoft Windows Vista ReadyBoost feature".

Even though for the Random Access Memory (RAM) modules OCZ offers lifetime warranty, for this line of products you only get a limited 3-year warranty. This usually implies that the pendrives are manufactured using MLC-based NAND memory chips, which have a shorten life span than SLC-based NAND memory chips. Samsung has just announced the introduction of faster MLC-based chips, but it'll be a while before we see products using them.

Besides its technical qualities, OCZ's VBoost USB 2.0 Flash Drives is very good-looking, having a cap-less design, the USB connector is retractable, so you don't have to worry about providing protection for it; it's hiding, safe inside the pendrive itself. No one can deny the entire "machine" is designed to put a spell on you.
