So, technically speaking, the 72-year-old barber doesn't cut hair but burns it off people's heads instead

When somebody tells us they're thinking about getting their hair cut, we imagine them going to a stylist and letting them run a pair of scissors through their locks.

Well, it just so happens that there is more than one way to get rid of no-longer-desired ponytails.

True, scissors are still the best and quite possibly the safest option, but this does not mean that we are entirely dependent on them when it comes to surprising our friends with a new look.

Meet Wang Weibu, wielder of hot metal tongs

72-year-old Wang Weibu counts himself among the world's few remaining barbers trained in the ancient art of Dahuojia, which is a fancy way of saying that he can cut hair using hot metal.

Yup, this guy has no use for scissors in his shop. To cut people's hair, he turns to metal tongs kept over open flames just long enough for them to turn red hot. Pretty cool, right?

Come to think about it, Chinese barber Wang Weibu doesn't actually cut hair. What he does is burn it off people's heads. Fear not, it's just the hair he wants. The ears and the scalp get to stay in place.

According to Oddity Central, the 72-year-old starts by using his trusty tongs to burn his customers' hair to the desired length. He tend-slides the hot metal over whatever locks are left hanging.

Being exposed to the heat coming from the metal tongs, the hair curls. Word has it that, when they leave Wang Weibu's shop, people look as if there had just had a perm.

Not at all surprisingly, the majority of this Chinese barber's customers are elderly individuals. Even so, the 72-year-old says that, most of the time, he earns just enough money to make a decent living.

“My business is quite good,” the man told the press in an interview. “It is mainly older people that come to my shop nowadays. And, like me, one day they won’t be here any more either,” he added.

This other guy uses swords to cut hair

Wang Weibu's method of cutting hair might be odd, but so is Nguyen Hoang Hung's. This other barber, living and working in Vietnam, uses samurai swords to cut hair.

His technique might come across as scary to us, scissors users, seeing how it involves wielding sharp blades around people's heads, but his customers trust him completely and do not fear being accidentally injured by him.
