14 DAY TRIAL // VueScan, the powerful scanning solution from Hamrick Software, has been updated to version 8.5.36, adding support for new Canon scanners, while fixing a trio of issues that has been found in earlier versions of the software. VueScan supports over 1,200 flatbed and film scanners and 321 digital-camera raw file types. The application is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux and assists users by automatically adjusting images to an optimum color balance, which reduces the need to work in Photoshop, or other graphic-editing programs.
According to the release notes for VueScan 8.5.36 for Mac OS X, developer Ed Hamrick has added support for seven new Canon scanners, including MP250, MP270, MP490, MP550, MP560, MP640 and MP990 models. The developer has also been able to isolate a problem with text ADF scans on HP 5300 and 7400, as well as an issue with Mustek P3600 A3 Pro. Also addressed is a problem with zooming when using 'Crop | Multi crop.'
VueScan also includes a built-in color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true-to-life. VueScan offers options for scanning faded slides and prints, batch scanning, IT8 color calibration and other advanced scanning features, as it supports more than 100 brands of negative films.
