Nokia E90 communicator was sold for the ultimate bid of USD5,000 at an auction that took place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The sum is much higher than what the phone will cost once released, but the buyer will have the pleasure of being the first one to own such a device.

The USD5,000 that Hartono Gunawan paid will go directly to UNICEF. So, not only did the buyer make a charity gesture, but he also went home with the only Nokia E90 Communicator that was offered to the public.

Nokia E90 communicator is the latest model of the Communicator series which goes back to 1996, when the first phone of this line was launched. Since then, Nokia has launched all Communicator mobile phones firstly in Indonesia and only later at a global level.

This is the first such mobile phone to be released for a long period of time until now. The E90 is a bit smaller than the other two 9500 and 9300 only models that have been released from the Communicator series until now. Moreover, the phone offers network connectivity through GPRS, 2.5 EDGE and 3.5 HSDPA. Not only that, but it also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities as to provide data transfer solutions at any time.

Nokia E90 communicator comes with two display screens. The outer one has a 240 x 320 pixel resolution that makes it possible for the user to view operations that need simpler display performances. On the other hand, the internal screen has a resolution of 800 x 352 pixels capable of supporting up to 16 million colors. This makes images captured with the phone's 3.2 megapixel camera be displayed at a high quality. Moreover, the phone also comes with a text-to-speech reader, an MP3 and video player as well as the best e-mail services out there.

Nokia E90 Communicator will be available for purchase starting the second quarter of this year for an average price of USD1000.
