Zorin Group has just launched a new version of Zorin OS, updating the operating system to Linux Kernel 5.3 and providing users with the latest releases of the apps that come pre-loaded.

Zorin OS 15.2 is supposed to deliver a faster, more secure, and powerful computer experience, the organization promises, and thanks to the latest kernel update, this should be the most secure version of the operating system.

Among the highlights, there’s support for new hardware, including Intel 10th generation processors, AMD Navi GPUs, such as the Radon RX 5700, and the latest MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards and touchpads.

As said, Zorin OS 15.2 comes with the latest versions of the pre-installed apps, and two of them are LibreOffice and GIMP, both of which are now up-to-date when you install the OS.

Hello, Windows users!

LibreOffice itself is considered the most powerful alternative to Microsoft Office, and having the latest version pre-loaded is quite vital, especially as Zorin OS appears to be rather successful among Windows users planning to make the switch to Linux.

Zorin Group says it recorded more than 900,000 downloads in the nine months of availability, and Windows and macOS users account for an important share of this number.

“2 in every 3 of these downloads were coming from Windows and macOS, reflecting our mission to bring the power of Linux to people who’ve never had access to it before. None of this could be possible without the help of you – the community – who have spread the word and helped the project to grow,” the company says.

Microsoft has recently pulled Windows 7, so the 2009 operating system no longer receives updates, which makes many users consider a potential switch to Linux. Zorin OS could thus be considered their next destination, as could other distros like Linux Mint and Ubuntu.
