The next major launch for Xiaomi might be closer than we might think. The Redmi Note 2 Pro hasn't been confirmed by the Chinese company yet, but a series of leaks point to an imminent release of the device.

We reported last week about the first live images of the phablet, and now it looks like we have another picture taken from the phone's back cover.

The picture confirms once again that the Redmi Note 2 Pro will be made of metal (probably aluminum) and that it will pack a fingerprint scanner on the back side, right below the main camera.

The Mi brand can also be seen etched at the base of the back cover, along with a long loudspeaker grill slightly lower. Nothing else is revealed in this picture, so we're left with the previous rumors that point to a mid-range hardware configuration for the Redmi Note 2 Pro.

It's worth mentioning that this unannounced smartphone is the successor for the Redmi Note 2, which was officially unveiled back in August.

One of the most anticipated mid-range smartphones

The Redmi Note 2 is one of the most popular smartphones launched by Xiaomi this year, having sold more than 2 million units since its release on the market back in September.

This means that the Pro version will have a hard taking competing with the standard model when it comes to sales. Ultimately, it all comes down to price, so if Xiaomi prices the Redmi Note 2 Pro aggressively, then the smartphone will definitely sell very well.

Anyway, according to the latest hearsay, the Redmi Note 2 Pro should flaunt a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen resolution that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

Furthermore, the smartphone will be equipped with a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. It will also pack 16GB of internal memory.

An improved version of the Redmi Note 2 Pro is said to be launched with 32GB of internal memory and 3GB of RAM. Rumor has it that the 2GB model will cost around $175, while the 3GB variant should sell for $235.

Both smartphone will come with 13-megapixel rear-facing cameras, 5-megapixel shooters in the front and high-capacity 3,060 mAh batteries.
