Tech executives often use the devices launched by the competition for a reason that makes total sense: they need to keep an eye on everything that others are doing, which would technically allow them to be up-to-date with how the market evolves.

The iPhone 11 generation launched in September last year, so the whole tech industry was giving it a try a few days later to get a taste of Apple’s latest and greatest.

But what do you call someone that’s still using an iPhone 11 today, more than six months since the device officially launched the device? A pleased Apple customer that likes the iPhone.

And this is exactly what Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun appears to be, as he went online to post on the Weibo social network using his iPhone. Needless to say, this isn’t the best thing to do for the CEO of a company that competes against Apple, so it was only a matter of seconds until other Weibo users noticed the iPhone tag in his post.

Oopsie, my bad

And Jun reacted in the worst possible way to the whole thing. He removed the post and then published it again using a device manufactured by the company he represents. And of course, the WWW managed to take screenshots of the original iPhone post, so the removal followed by the republishing using a Xiaomi smartphone made the whole thing even more embarrassing.

Jun, however, shouldn’t feel bad because he uses an iPhones. Others are doing it too, including Huawei’s founder and CEO Ren Zhengei who publicly applauded Apple and the investments that it makes in the iPhone, explaining that even his family uses the device when traveling in another country.

So yes, the iPhone is a lovable device that you can use even when you’re the CEO of a rival company.
