Microsoft has finally announced the launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming on Apple devices, which means that iPhone and iPad owners can now play games running in the cloud using nothing but their browsers.

The new feature is available in 22 countries, Microsoft says, and also lands for all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members with Windows 10 PCs.

To make sure everything runs exactly as expected, with minimum latency and uncompromised performance, Microsoft has also upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming to custom Xbox Series X hardware, so with the proper connection, you should be able to play games just like you’d be using your own console.

“We’ve been upgrading Microsoft datacenters around the globe with the fastest, most powerful Xbox hardware to give you faster load times, improved frame rates, and an experience of a new generation of gaming. To ensure the lowest latency, highest quality experience across the broadest set of devices, we will be streaming at 1080p and up to 60fps. Going forward we’ll continue to innovate and add more features to enhance your cloud gaming experience,” Microsoft explains.

Seamless experience

Microsoft guarantees a seamless gameplay experience on all devices, explaining that you only need to grab your phone, tablet, or PC, connect to Xbox cloud using the browser and then launch your favorite game, so it all takes just a few seconds.

“Cloud gaming provides seamless play across your devices. When you’re streaming games on a PC or mobile device, your game is playing from Xbox hardware in a Microsoft datacenter. This means you can jump into a game, connect with your friends, and play through the Xbox network just as you’ve always done. That’s right, your game saves are just the same wherever and whenever you play, so you can pick right back up from where you left off,” the company explains.

Xbox cloud gaming supports Microsoft Edge, Chrome, and Safari on PC and mobile devices.
