Windows Update Blocker, one of the most popular applications supposed to help block automatic updates on Windows computers, has just reached version 1.2.

The program, which can disable the Windows Update service to make sure that Microsoft doesn’t force any update on your device, now supports other services as well, which users can manually define in a file called wub.ini.

Basically, Windows Update Blocker can now be used to block other services that connect to Microsoft as well, albeit it’s worth knowing that the new feature isn’t necessarily the most straightforward given than manual edits are required.

But when it comes to its original purpose, Windows Update continues to be one super-easy to use program to block automatic Windows updates. It comes with a minimal interface that allows users to enable or disable the Windows update services, but also with a dedicated setting to prevent any unauthorized change should a different service or update attempt to do so.

New Windows 10 feature update due next month

The release of version 1.2 happens just in time for the May 2019 Update.

Microsoft is currently giving the finishing touches to the next Windows 10 feature update called May 2019 Update and labeled as version 1903. The update is now available in RTM stage for users enrolled in the Release Preview ring of the Windows Insider program.

The public rollout will kick off in late May, as Microsoft wants the update to spend more time in the Release Preview ring before production devices receive it too.

This should help prevent bugs from reaching computers not enrolled in the Windows Insider program. Insiders are thus projected to receive several cumulative updates in the coming weeks, as Microsoft irons out more issues and refines the performance of the May 2019 Update.
