Concept imagines modern version of Windows 2000 boot screen

Windows 2000 is an operating system that’s no longer around, although there’s a good chance that some government departments and other organizations are still using it on their internal computers without Internet access.

On the other hand, long-time Windows users still remember its pros and cons, and by the looks of things, the boot screen was one of the things some of us loved the most.

In this context, this user concept imagining a modern version of the Windows 2000 boot screen isn’t necessarily surprising, despite the fact that, at least at first glance, it looks a little bit cluttered to me.

It might be the “Microsoft Windows 10 Professional Built on NT Technology” text showing up on the screen the part making the whole thing look crowded on the screen, but other than that, the design simplicity aligns with the overall push in Windows 10 anyway.

Dark and light themes for the boot screen

As you can see here, the concept imagines both a dark and a light theme for the boot screen, which again is something that does make sense in Windows 10 – the operating system now comes with dark and light visual styles, which users can enable from the settings page.

Theoretically, the boot screen wouldn’t be able to adapt to the skin used in Windows 10 given the operating system hasn’t yet started and the settings aren’t loaded, but users could be allowed to choose the version they want from a dedicated settings screen.

Of course, there’s a good chance no overhaul is coming to the Windows boot screen, as Microsoft is expected to retain the current look that Windows 10 uses. A new feature update is on its way to users in the spring, and just as expected, there are no changes to the Windows boot screen.
