14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is working on improving the tablet experience on Windows 11, and a recent discovery reveals that the company plans to enhance the way you interact with the taskbar when this mode is enabled.
@thebookisclosed revealed on Twitter that the Redmond-based software giant wants to provide users with an option called “Automatically hide the taskbar when using your device as a tablet,” as the company is apparently working on bringing back some original tablet mode options.
At this point, however, nobody knows for sure when this feature is supposed to make its way to all users, but for now, the development is believed to be in the early phases.
Windows 11 taskbar improvements
Microsoft is getting ready to release the first major update for Windows 11, with the first users projected to receive it as soon as this month.
This update will include a public preview of Android apps on Windows 11, therefore giving users the opportunity of running apps built for Google’s mobile operating system right on their desktops. Up to this point, the feature has been exclusive to Windows Insiders, and only with a limited number of apps.
In addition, the Redmond-based software giant will include additional taskbar refinements.
“Next month we’re bringing new experiences to Windows that include a public preview of how you can use Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, taskbar improvements with call mute and unmute, easier window sharing and bringing weather to the taskbar, plus the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player,” Microsoft said last month when it announced the new Windows 11 update.
At this point, there’s no specific ETA as to when the update would go live for everybody, but the release shouldn’t be too far given it’s already February.
