A final build has also been selected, it seems

Microsoft is working around the clock on finalizing the next major feature update for Windows 11, and while the company has so far remained tight-lipped as to when a final build could be chosen, it looks like this phase has already been reached.

Microsoft watcher Zac Bowden revealed on Twitter that Windows 11 build 22621, which has recently been shipped to insiders in the Beta channel, is the final one that will go live for users out there as version 22H2.

Furthermore, it appears that Microsoft plans to sign off this build on May 20, and if nothing big happens in the meantime, build 22621, obviously with additional refinements, will be the one to go live to production devices later this year.

Windows 11 rollout still underway

In the meantime, however, Microsoft is still working on bringing Windows 11 to all eligible devices.

The company originally planned to reach the global availability by the summer of this year, but back in January, it said the rollout was already ahead of the schedule.

This means all eligible devices should get Windows 11 by the summer, so the global availability should be reached any day now.

“The upgrade offer to Windows 11 is entering its final phase of availability and is designated for broad deployment for eligible devices. Since the launch of Windows 11 in October, we have seen strong demand and preference for Windows 11 with people upgrading their eligible PCs at twice the rate we saw for Windows 10. Based on this trend, we are advancing the pace of the rollout faster than we originally announced and entering the final phase of availability for Windows 11 ahead of our initial plan of mid-2022,” Microsoft said in late January.

No new update on the rollout was provided since then.
