Microsoft says it specifically focused on system performance

Windows 11 comes with a plethora of changes, not only in terms of features but also as far as the user interface is concerned.

And to be honest, this facelift is more than welcome, especially as users have been waiting for a modern overhaul of Windows for many years already, and Microsoft itself proved with products like Windows 10X that it’s fully capable of delivering such a visual refresh.

Windows 11 therefore comes with massive interface improvements, including more refined transparency effects, rounded corners, and other visual gimmicks that people are going to love.

But of course, there’s also a concern that Windows 11 could end up feeling painfully slow, especially on devices not running on the latest-generation hardware.

Windows 11 due in October

Microsoft, however, said in a recent Q&A spotted by WL that Windows 11’s visual effects wouldn’t affect the overall system performance, as the company has been focused from the very beginning on making everything run as smoothly as possible regardless of the hardware configuration.

“Performance is really a top priority for us and we want to ensure that all these fun new functionalities (Mica and rounded corners) are super fast and don’t impact the OS. For example, Mica was specifically designed for higher performance when compared to things like acrylic,” the company explained. “For rounded corners, we optimized our rendering performance so you shouldn’t notice any difference compared to square corners.”

Windows 11 is already available as a preview for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program, with the production launch projected to happen in October.

The new OS would be offered as a free upgrade to certain eligible Windows 10 computers, with Microsoft confirming the rollout would continue into 2022. Windows 11 would only support PCs running on the eighth-gen processors and newer.
