Microsoft says it’s expanding the rollout of the OS

Windows 11 started rolling out to users earlier this month, and Microsoft says it’s using the same phased model as before, as the company wants to detect issues early and prevent them from hitting more computers.

So until now, only a few devices received Windows 11, with Microsoft this week announcing that the rollout of the operating system is making progress, so the update is now pushed to more devices out there.

In other words, if you haven’t received Windows 11 already, this would be a good time to check for updates once again, as there’s a chance the operating system could show up on your device too.

“The availability of Windows 11 has been increased and we are leveraging our latest generation machine learning model to offer the upgrade to an expanded set of eligible devices. We recommend that you upgrade your devices to Windows 11 to take advantage of the latest features and advanced protections from security threats. We will continue to train our machine learning model throughout the phased rollout to deliver a smooth upgrade experience. We will also provide status updates as we further increase availability over time,” Microsoft says.

Rollout to complete by mid-2022

The company has previously promised to complete the rollout of Windows 11 by the summer of 2022, so in theory, the whole thing should be accelerated even further in the coming weeks and months.

In the meantime, there’s always the option to manually upgrade your device to Windows 11 using solutions like Media Creation Tool or the dedicated ISO images, but on the other hand, Microsoft strongly recommends against these methods.

This is because you could end up struggling with all kinds of bugs, so Microsoft says you should just wait to receive the update on Windows Update because this should theoretically guarantee a smoother performance overall.
