New build shipped to Fast and Slow rings

Microsoft has released a new Windows 20H1 preview build for insiders in the Fast and Slow rings.

Windows 10 build 19035, which is part of the 20H1 feature update, also codenamed Vibranium, doesn’t bring any new features, but only changes and improvements ahead of the stable release.

One important fix in this release concerns driver updates in Windows Update, with Microsoft explaining the following in the changelog (which you can read in full in the box after the jump):

“We’ve completed the experiment related to how we deliver driver updates through Windows Update. Devices that were involved in the experiment will no longer see the Optional Updates link under Settings > Windows Update. This also resolves an issue where after successfully installing printer drivers from the Optional Updates section, the same driver is still showing as available for install.  Thanks to the Insiders who have provided feedback on this feature.”

Anti-cheating software compatibility bug

Windows 10 20H1, which is projected to launch as version 2004, is expected to be finalized as soon as this month, while the rollout to production devices will kick off in the spring.

Microsoft still has a bunch of issues to fix, including a gaming bug that affected Windows 10 November 2019 Update and involving compatibility glitches with certain anti-cheating software.

“BattlEye and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues due to changes in the operating system between some Insider Preview builds and certain versions of BattlEye anti-cheat software. To safeguard Insiders who might have these versions installed on their PC, we have applied a compatibility hold on these devices from being offered affected builds of Windows Insider Preview,” Microsoft explains.
