Version 2004 still the leading feature update so far

New data shared by AdDuplex shows that Windows 10 version 20H2, which at this point is the most recent feature update for the operating system, is very close to becoming the number one release currently on the market.

And this is because version 20H2 has reached a share of 40.1 percent, while Windows 10 version 2004 continues to lead the pack with 40.6 percent. So the lead is extremely fragile right now, and if the same trend is maintained, then version 20H2 should become the number one release next month.

The share of version 1909 is also dropping, so only 11.1 percent of the devices are still running it, while Windows 10 version 1903 is obviously losing more ground, with its share dropping to version 3.3 percent.

Windows 10 version 21H1 just around the corner

Microsoft is also getting ready to roll out a new Windows 10 feature update called version 21H1, with the first wave of devices to get it by the end of May.

Windows 10 version 21H1 will be just a small pack of improvements for the OS, so it’ll land in the form of a quality update.

“Based on feedback and learnings during the past year of extensive remote work, learning and play, version 21H1 will be delivered with servicing technology (like that used for the monthly update process and how 20H2 was delivered),” Microsoft said.

“Windows 10, version 21H1 will have a scoped set of features improving security, remote access and quality. The features we are releasing in this update are focused on the core experiences that customers have told us they’re relying on most right now. So, we optimized this release to support our customers’ most pressing needs.”

The RTM build of this new feature update should be released to insiders in the coming weeks.
