14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft will allow users running Windows 10 Home to pause updates for a maximum of 35 days beginning with the upcoming feature update to version 1903.
Currently codenamed 19H1, Windows 10 version 1903 is projected to go live next month.
Back in January, it was reported that Microsoft would finally provide users running the Home SKU with an option to pause updates for up to 7 days. As we speculated at that point, there was a big chance that Microsoft planned to align the Home SKU with its Pro sibling, and as it turns out, this is exactly what happened following the release of the latest insider preview build.
One reddit user discovered that after installing the most recent Windows 10 19H1 build it is possible to pause updates on the Home SKU for up to 35 days, a feature that was until now available exclusively on the Pro version of the operating system.
Public rollout beginning next month
While it’s too early to tell if the latest build is an RTM candidate of the upcoming Windows 10 19H1, the simple fact that this option is implemented in such an advanced stage of the development process is reason enough to believe that Microsoft will offer it in the stable build as well.
“Today Microsoft has released the first 19H1 build without watermark or expiration date and, by doing a clean installation of this build, you are not enrolled in the insider program automatically and, as expected, the option that previously only allowed to pause the updates for 7 days, has changed to 35 days,” the reddit post reads.
Microsoft hasn’t released an official announcement on this change, but expect further details to surface in the coming days as we approach the RTM sign-off day. The public rollout of Windows 10 version 1903 should kick off next month.
