14 DAY TRIAL // In addition to the two cumulative updates that Microsoft published earlier today for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Windows 10 Creators Update, the software giant has also rolled out a patch for systems still on the Anniversary Update, also known as version 1607.
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4462928 comes with nearly the same fixes as the two other siblings, but it’s specifically aimed at this version of the operating system.
One thing that you should have in mind is that Windows 10 Anniversary Update is no longer supported for Home and Pro SKUs. As a result, this cumulative update is only shipped to systems that are running either the Education or the Enterprise versions of the operating system as part of the Long-Term Servicing Channel. LTSC guarantees support until October 2026.
As for the changelog of cumulative update KB4462928, one improvement that’s worth mentioning is a fix resolving memory leak issues on svchost.exe, as well as glitches hitting Windows Server 2016.
“Addresses an issue that may cause the addition of nodes to fail intermittently after creating a single node in a Windows Server 2016 Cluster. The error code is, “0x0000001e,” the release notes read.
No reported issues so far
The antivirus fix that’s part of the other updates comes with KB4462928 too, so in case some of your apps running on .NET Framework stopped working, you should install this patch as soon as possible.
Fortunately, there are no known issues hitting KB4462928, so it should install correctly for everyone. We haven’t seen any issues being reported so far, but given that the number of devices still running the Anniversary Update is very small, there’s a chance only isolated problems would be experienced.
KB4462928 increases the OS build number to 14393.2580, and you can check this tidbit to make sure that the cumulative update installed correctly on a specific system.
