Microsoft has started rolling out another update for the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 that brings a new feature called Departments.

Landing in the Store as a drop-down menu, Departments is a new way to find content easier on Windows 10 and is particularly helpful as the Microsoft Store evolves to become the home of more than just apps and games.

Microsoft has improved the Store in the last versions of Windows 10 to become the one destination for everything to download on the OS, so in addition to apps and games, which have been there from the very beginning, users can now find books, music, Edge extensions, and TV shows as well.

But because the Store itself is growing with more content added regularly, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find the right stuff you need, despite Microsoft grouping everything into categories.

As a result, the software giant is now rolling out Departments, a feature that as compared to the traditional categories likes apps, games, and books, groups content in popular sections that users might be interested in, like Software & apps, Entertainment, Devices, and Deals.

Each of this section comes with its own sub-sections, like Devices, which includes links to buy Surface devices, PC & tablets, accessories, gaming PCs, and Xbox consoles. Many of these sections have previously been highlighted in the Microsoft Store on the main page, so with this update, the company tries to make it a bit more straightforward to reach them. The purpose of Departments is to make finding the right content easier, no matter if it’s software or hardware.

This feature is currently being rolled out with a Microsoft Store update in the United States, and users across the world should be getting it in the coming weeks as well.
