Microsoft has reportedly completed the development of Windows 10 October 2018 Update (Redstone 5 / version 1809) and build 17763 is very likely to be the RTM version that everyone is going to get very soon.

Windows 10 build 17763 is already available for insiders in the Fast and Slow rings, and if it’s indeed RTM, it should be pushed to the Release Preview ring shortly.

Recent findings, however, confirm that Microsoft is preparing this particular build for the global release.

MyDigitalLife forum member abbodi1406 has come across public permalinks for Windows 10 build 17763 and ESD links, which means that Microsoft may be getting ready to publish this particular build on the Media Creation Tool sometime in the coming days.

The Media Creation Tool allows users to create installation media for Windows 10 and download the latest feature updates manually without waiting for Microsoft to release it via Windows Update.

Launch next week?

Details as to when the new Windows 10 update could ship to users are still scarce at this point, but it’s being speculated that an announcement in this regard may be made at Microsoft’s October 2 event.

The software giant will host a new Surface event early next month, and shortly after the press conference, it may also roll out the Windows 10 October 2018 Update to the first wave of systems.

The new OS update will be released in stages, so not everyone will see it in Windows Update on day one. This is an approach that gives Microsoft more time to diagnose bugs and resolve compatibility issues because publishing the update for more systems

In the meantime, users will be allowed to manually update their computers to the October 2018 Update via the Media Creation Tool. A similar release schedule was used for the April 2018 Update as well.
