Next build to bring new feature for Windows 10 Mobile users

Microsoft is expected to release a new Windows 10 build this week that would target insiders on both PCs and mobile devices, and according to a recent report, there’ll be at least one new feature for smartphones.

Aggiornamenti Lumia has posted a screenshot showing what seems to be a reset app feature integrated into Windows 10 Mobile and which the source claims is slated to make its debut in the next build.

The Italian site explains that the purpose of this feature is to remove all cache and settings of an application, returning it to the original state after installing it. It goes without saying that this could come in handy especially when trying to deal with errors, but resetting can also help with browsers, where removing unnecessary data can help save space.

The feature displays information such as storage required by the app files and the user-generated data, and includes a single button to perform the reset.

Inspired from Android?

This is a very similar behavior to what we’ve seen on Android, which also allows users to reset app settings to the original configuration - check out the screenshot at the end of the article for a quick look at this option.

As it turns out, this feature was integrated into the Settings screen in the Advanced tab, but its location can change before it makes the debut for public users - for the moment, resetting apps will only be possible for insiders, but everyone should get it with the launch of the Windows 10 Creators Update in early 2017.

The next build is very likely to land this week, as Microsoft’s Windows engineers took some days off last week to spend Thanksgiving with their families. Updates for both PCs and mobile devices should go live these days, and a feature to reset apps is very likely to be part of the new release.
