Microsoft could make several announcements this month

Although Microsoft previously announced Windows 10 Mobile will be available to many Windows Phone 8.1 devices by the end of 2015, the Redmond-based company had to delay the rollout of the upgrade for this year.

The good news is owners of Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones might not have to wait that long for the update to arrive on their devices.

We reported earlier today that Microsoft confirmed Windows 10 Mobile would be released “soon.” Even though the company doesn't say when exactly the update will be available, we suspect Windows 10 Mobile should be rolled out this month.

Today, a tip received by the folks over at NPU claims Windows 10 Mobile rollout will begin on January 12. In fact, Microsoft is expected to make several announcements on that date, including the reveal of Lumia 850.

Unconfirmed rumor, so don't get your hopes up too high

Naturally, we can't vouch for NPU's source, but the January 12 date falls in line with Microsoft's “soon” term referring to Windows 10 Mobile rollout. Unfortunately, so does the January 11 or 13, so there's no telling when exactly the update will be available for download.

One of the tweets published by “Lumia Help” mentions that no definite date for the Windows 10 Mobile rollout has been announced yet, so Microsoft might still be working on fixing some of the issues reported by Windows Insiders.

That being said, we recommend our readers to get this rumor with a pinch of salt, at least until we get more info from other sources that might or might not confirm January 12 as Windows 10 Mobile's official release date.

It's also worth mentioning that Microsoft announced that not all Windows 10 Mobile features will be available to all Lumia smartphones as some are limited by the hardware inside. So, let's just wait a few more weeks and see what Microsoft has in store for us.
