Microsoft getting closer to Windows 10 19H1 RTM signoff

Microsoft has just shipped Windows 10 build 18362 to insiders in the Slow ring, and this is seen as many be living proof this particular release is at least an RTM candidate, if not the RTM build itself, of the upcoming 19H1 update.

Originally released to the Fast ring earlier this week, build 18362 is already a very polished update, as it comes with only three known issues for end users and one glitch hitting developers.

Furthermore, Microsoft resolved two of the most important problems in the previous builds, including one affecting the Microsoft Store and causing apps to fail to auto-update.

In a post a few hours ago, Dona Sarkar, chief of the Windows Insider program, says some insiders the Slow ring might hit an error when trying to install this build.

“We’ve received reports of Windows Insiders encountering install issues trying to install this build in the Slow ring with an associated error code of 0x80242016. We are actively investigating and ask that affected users upvote the following feedback item: https://aka.ms/AA4jxt8. We will share additional information as available,” she posted.

The road to RTM

As for the chances for this particular build to be an RTM candidate, this is very likely, especially because we’re entering the last week of March, which is the month when the update should be finalized.

According to Microsoft’s own release schedule, Windows 10 19H1, also known as April 2019 Update or version 1903, is scheduled to be completed in March, while the public rollout should kick off in April. If this is the case, the RTM build should be signed off the next week.

There are no details as to when Microsoft plans to begin the rollout to production devices, but if build 18362 is indeed RTM, it should first be shipped to the Release Preview ring too in the coming days.
