Windows 10 April 2018 Update is the fastest-adopted version of Windows 10, according to Microsoft itself, and new third-party statistics published today seem to indicate that this new OS feature update is indeed growing at a fast pace.

AdDuplex figures for June 2018 show that Windows 10 April 2018 Update is now running on 78.1 percent of all Windows 10 computers, which means that nearly 8 in 10 PCs powered by Microsoft’s operating system have already been updated to the latest release.

This can only be good news for both the industry and Microsoft itself, as Windows 10 April 2018 Update guarantees longer support and improved security.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is the runner-up version with 15.7 percent share in the Windows 10 ecosystem, surprisingly followed by the much older Windows 10 Anniversary Update and not by its predecessor Creators Update. Anniversary Update is running on 2.5 percent of Windows 10 PCs, while the Creators Update has a share of 2.4 percent.

Redstone 5 in the works

Also good news for Microsoft is that 0.2 percent of the PCs are running Windows 10 Redstone 5 builds, as these help the company improve OS feature updates before their public release.

As far as Windows 10 OEMs are concerned, HP remains the leader with 27.45 percent, followed by Dell and Lenovo with 18.45 percent and 12.3 percent, respectively.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update was released as a manual download on April 30, while the automatic rollout kicked off on May 8. Last month, Microsoft announced that the April 2018 Update was available for all Windows 10 devices.

The next release on Microsoft’s roadmap is Redstone 5 due in the fall, which according to the previous schedule should be finalized in September and released to users in October. The first preview builds are already available as part of the Windows Insider program.
