New feature coming to the desktop client of WhatsApp

Using WhatsApp on a PC is pretty easy, as the service already comes with a dedicated web interface that runs in the browser via web.whatsapp.com.

But at the same time, WhatsApp has also released a desktop client that makes it even more convenient to chat with browsers, as no other applications are required for the whole thing. And with notification support and audio alerts, WhatsApp behaves a like a native Windows messenger.

The most recent version of the app, which updates the desktop client of WhatsApp to version 2.2049.8.0 on Windows 10, introduces more improvements for the messaging experience, this time with support for third-party stickers.

As you probably know already if you’re a WhatsApp user, stickers are the new big thing for the Facebook-owned company. After previously launching them in the mobile version of WhatsApp, stickers eventually made it to the web too.

More features on their way

The web-based interface of WhatsApp (the one that runs in the browser) already supported both first- and third-party sticker packs, but the latter are finally making their way to the desktop with this new version of the downloadable client.

In other words, any third-party sticker pack that exists on your mobile device in WhatsApp will now be synced with the desktop too, so you’ll be provided with the same messaging experience even on the bigger screen.

The latest update also brings more bug fixes and improvements, so overall, the app should feel smoother and be more reliable on Windows devices.

In the meantime, WhatsApp is also hard at work on additional features, and one of the biggest things the company is working right now is support for multiple devices on the same account. In other words, at one point you’ll be able to use WhatsApp on more than one smartphone despite being logged in with the same phone number, though right now, there’s no ETA for this functionality.
