14 DAY TRIAL // WhatsApp has just released a major update for its iOS app, this time with some actual goodies that users can try out right now after installing the new version.
First and foremost, WhatsApp has added more advanced wallpaper support, so starting with version 2.20.130, users can actually enable different backgrounds per each chat and customize the appearance of the wallpaper even further.
“New wallpapers give your chats a fresh new look. You can now set custom wallpapers per-chat, separate wallpapers in dark mode, and choose from a refreshed wallpaper gallery or different colors over the default doodle background,” WhatsApp explains in the official release notes published in the App Store.
Enhanced sticker search
Then, this new version of WhatsApp introduces an enhanced search tool for stickers, which in its turn is a feature that’s gaining ground these days on both Facebook’s messaging platform and other similar apps. For example, Telegram is investing big in stickers for its iPhone and Android users, and now WhatsApp is following in its footsteps with a similar long-term commitment.
“Search and find your stickers with text or emoji or browse through the common sticker categories,” WhatsApp further adds in the changelog of the new app.
To change the wallpaper settings per each contact, just tap the contact’s name in the conversation and then expand the wallpaper section. You will be provided with access to the updated gallery of pre-loaded wallpapers, but also with options to select a photo from your phone’s own collection and use it as background.
WhatsApp for iPhone requires at least iOS 9, so it goes without saying it can run on the majority of Apple smartphones out there, including older models no longer receiving the latest operating system versions.
