The latest round of cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices includes a patch for version 1809 (October 2018 Update) as well, and the changelog points to lots of improvements this time.

First and foremost, it’s worth knowing that Windows 10 cumulative update KB4520062 increases the OS build number to 17763.832, so when typing winver in the Start menu, this is the version that you should see.

When it comes to the changes that it introduces, there are several of them that are worth highlighting.

For example, cumulative update KB4520062 resolves a Start menu bug that has been plaguing Windows 10 devices lately and causing some blank tiles to show up when clicking the Start button.

But at the same time, there is also a welcome fix for a crash occurring the Settings app. As some Windows 10 version 1809 users discovered the hard way, when changing themes in the operating system, the Settings app itself crashed. In some cases, this made changing themes very difficult, as the modifications did not apply because of the crash.

Cumulative update KB4520062 also resolves a bug leading to high power consumption for a device in Connected Standby, and this is without a doubt a welcome improvement for Windows 10 users on laptops. Figuring out what causes the battery drain in such conditions is really hard, so make sure you install this update to see if the battery life of your device is improved.

Microsoft says the same update also addresses other smaller glitches hitting Bluetooth when using certain audio profiles for extended periods or the printing interface in Internet Explorer whenever users attempt to print a webpage.

There are three known issues in cumulative update KB4520062, but all of them have been there for quite some time from the previous updates.

Cumulative update KB4520062 is offered as optional, so you need to manually check for updates in Windows Update in order to get it.
