14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 Creators Update (1703) is one of the versions getting a cumulative update today after previously being provided with security and non-security improvements as part of the October 9 Patch Tuesday.
This time, Windows 10 version 1703 receives cumulative update KB4462939, which comes with quality improvements exclusively – security patches are typically published on the second Tuesday of each month.
Just like in the case of cumulative update KB4462932 for Fall Creators Update (version 1709), KB4462939 comes with a rather long changelog, and you can find all the release notes in the box at the end of the article.
However, it’s worth noting that it fixes an issue experienced on systems with more than 4GB, as Microsoft itself explains.
“Addresses an issue in which applications on systems with more than 4 GB of memory receive Access Denied error code “0x5” when calling CreateProcessWithLogonW().”
No known issues
Also, this update corrects problems that were caused by cumulative updates released earlier this year, so you should install it as soon as possible if you encounter any of the issue described below:
“Addresses an issue in which the System.Security.Cryptography.Algorithms reference was not correctly loaded on .NET Framework 4.7.1 after the July 10, 2018 and August 14, 2018 patches.”
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4462939 increases the OS build number to 15063.1418, and you can verify whether it installed correctly by simply typing winver in the Start menu. If this is the version number of your OS, then everything’s fine, if not, you may need to troubleshoot this new cumulative update.
The good news is that Microsoft says it’s not aware of any issues hitting KB4462939, so it should install correctly on all systems. Of course, this remains to be seen, as more systems are only now getting the cumulative update, but we’ll continue to monitor the main feedback channels and report back if any problems are experienced.
