Microsoft has released a new batch of cumulative updates this morning, and systems running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) are being provided with KB4343893.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4343893 includes bug fixes and general performance improvements, as Microsoft typically uses updates published on Patch Tuesday to resolve vulnerabilities in the operating system.

Most the changes that are part of KB4343893 are aimed at IT pros, as it’s the case of a Microsoft Edge browser improvement that fixes a bug causing the app to stop working after setting a DLL rule in AppLocker.

Furthermore, this update resolves a problem that forced users to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice to exist the assigned access mode when autologon was enabled, while also addressing glitches reported in Windows Server.

“Addresses an issue that prevents a checkpoint created on a Windows Server 2016 cluster from being reapplied. This occurs when VMs are running on a cluster-shared volume (CSV), and the error is ‘Failed to read from stream. HRESULT = 0xC00CEE3A,’” the changelog reads.

Start menu refinements and known issues

Home users may find this cumulative update less exciting, though it also includes fixes for a bug causing the Start menu to fail to open after refreshing the PC.

On the other hand, KB4343893 also comes with two known issues, both of which existed in the previous cumulative updates and cause English strings to be displayed on non-English systems.

“Some non-English platforms may display the following string in English instead of the localized language: ”Reading scheduled jobs from file is not supported in this language mode.” This error appears when you try to read the scheduled jobs you've created and Device Guard is enabled,” Microsoft explains.

In both cases, a fix would land in a coming update, so no workaround is available for the time being. New updates are projected to ship on September 11, which marks Microsoft’s next Patch Tuesday.
