New version of Vivaldi introduces another innovation

While nearly 7 out of 10 PCs out there are currently running Google Chrome according to third-party market share stats, those interested in out of this world customization and control over everything they do in their browser are most likely running Vivaldi.

Because yes, Vivaldi is the name that impresses whenever it comes to giving users the power to configure the browser just the way they want, and the recently-introduced version 3.6 pushes things to a completely new level.

The new release comes with Two-Level Tab Stacks, which is essentially an evolution of the original Tab Stacks feature introduces some six years ago.

If you never used Tab Stacks, you should really give it a try. While other browsers out there are only now introducing tab groups, Vivaldi has been offering tab stacks for years, allowing you to group multiple tabs under one roof, thus making it easier to keep things organized and the browser UI cleaner.

The Two-Level Tab Stacks is pretty much a second tab bar that makes sense to those who work with a ton of tabs at the same time. Because really now, who doesn’t? 2020 has been a totally crazy year and given so many of us moved their classic office to the safety of our own homes, it makes sense to look into more ways to stay productive, even in this ad-hoc working environment.

New tab approach

And Vivaldi makes it possible to have as many tabs as you want in the browser and still avoid making the app feel cluttered.

“The new feature is useful for those who would like to display their stacked tabs in full size. It works whether the tabs are placed on the top, bottom, or to the side,” the Vivaldi team says.

“The new, second level makes reorganizing stacks or creating new tabs within a stack a breeze. For example, the “+” button on the new line helps easily create tabs within the stack. The feature offers all the other benefits of normal-sized tabs, like easier to read page titles, tab notifications, and (if enabled) tab thumbnails. In addition, Two-Level Tab Stacks can be locked, which avoids changing the page view height when switching between tabs, and makes it simpler to create new stacks from any single tab.”

As with everything else Vivaldi, the new feature is available on all desktop platforms supported by the browser.
