Vivaldi has just received a new update that comes with some important improvements for the Picture-in-Picture, or PiP, experience.

Vivaldi 3.2 adds a new mute button for PiP, which according to the developing team, is now “more complete.”

The PiP feature, which is also available in other browsers on the desktop, allow users to watch videos online without having to close the browser or stick with just one page. The PiP launches a floating window where the video is playing, and this can be resized and moved across the screen as needed.

Beginning with this new update, the PiP mode also comes with a mute button.

“This makes Vivaldi one of a few Chromium browsers to offer a user-friendly implementation of this functionality – users can mute and unmute with just one click while watching videos in picture-in-picture mode. The mute button is a welcome addition in the current scenario of “work from home” or “stay at home”. It comes in handy if users suddenly need to jump into an online meeting, take a phone call, or deal with other interruptions,” the Vivaldi team explains.

Improved PiP mode

The PiP experience also comes with a series of other extras, including support for controlling the sound in the playing window by simply right-clicking the main tab. In other words, if you want to mute the video playing in PiP mode, just right-click the tab in Vivaldi and then hit the Mute button.

Vivaldi is one of the most customizable browsers that you can download right now on a desktop platform, and it’s available on Linux, Windows, and Mac. Furthermore, the parent company has recently launched an Android browser too, and it’s based on the same approach, with state of the art privacy and customization offered on mobile as well.
