Designer envisions a visual refresh for several desktop apps

Due later this year, Windows 11 will introduce a highly anticipated visual refresh that includes everything from rounded corners to more of Fluent Design in all key areas.

And of course, Microsoft doesn’t want to stop here, as the software giant is working on updating all of its software to align with the new look and feel in Windows 11.

The living proof in this regard is the new Microsoft Office user interface, currently available as part of the Office Insider program but scheduled to become available for everybody later this year.

In the meantime, designer Zee-Al-Eid Ahmad Rana has posted on Twitter new design concepts envisioning the Windows 11 look and feel in several other Microsoft products, such as Visual Studio, GitHub Desktop, and Visual Studio Code, both with light and dark modes.

And without a doubt, all look brilliant, and to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Microsoft embracing these ideas for the visual update of all these apps.

The Windows 11 UI

Microsoft says the Windows 11 interface update is based on user feedback, and this is the reason the taskbar icons are now centered and the Start menu uses the design borrowed from Windows 10X.

“We’ve simplified the design and user experience to empower your productivity and inspire your creativity. It’s modern, fresh, clean and beautiful. From the new Start button and taskbar to each sound, font and icon, everything was done intentionally to put you in control and bring a sense of calm and ease. We put Start at the center and made it easier to quickly find what you need. Start utilizes the power of the cloud and Microsoft 365 to show you your recent files no matter what platform or device you were viewing them on earlier, even if it was on an Android or iOS device,” Microsoft says.

Windows 11 is already available for testing as part of the Windows Insider program.
