Zenimax has just announced the next chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online saga: Greymoor. Although the name might not tell you anything, the developers revealed that this year's new massive expansion is set in Western Skyrim and Blackreach, and the year-long “Dark Heart of Skyrim” storyline.

The upcoming expansion brings new zones to Elder Scrolls Online like Western Skyrim, the frozen homeland of the Nords, and the long-forgotten Blackreach cavern, which has been expanded from what players originally explored in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, to fight sinister monsters while unlocking the secret of the Dark Heart of Skyrim.

More importantly, there's a new year-long adventure waiting for players in Greymoor – The Dark Heart of Skyrim, which will include four updates in 2020: the prologue quest (free to all players) and Harrowstorm DLC dungeon pack, the Greymoor Chapter, the Q3 DLC dungeon pack, and the Q4 Story DLC.

According to developers, this will be one of The Elder Scrolls’ darkest stories yet. Surprisingly, some heroes will be returning from the base game such as Lyris Titanborn and House Ravenwatch who will take the fight to Vampires.

The expansion will also add new world events and gameplay systems, which allows players to group up with friends to fight the magical Harrowstorms terrorizing the land. Furthermore, players will travel beyond Western Skyrim and across Tamriel to recover lost artifacts with the new Antiquities system: scry the location of ancient relics and excavate them to uncover Tamriel's hidden history and unlock powerful and fun rewards for all types of players.

Greymoor features an epic main story quest line with around 30 hours of new adventures, plus tons of new side quests and exploration. Also, a new challenging 12-player trial – Kyne's Aegis will be added in the expansion, along with a huge amount of unique Delves, Public Dungeons, and standalone quests.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is scheduled for release on PC and Mac on May 18, while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will get it on June 2.
