The adoption of Windows 10 version 20H2 is on the rise, with new numbers shared by AdDuplex indicating that while the May 2020 Update, or version 2004, continues to lead the charts, a change of places could happen in the coming months.

And that’s because version 20H2 is currently running on 29.9 percent of all Windows 10 devices out there, while Windows 10 version 2004 still holds a 42.1 percent share.

All the other versions of Windows 10 are rapidly losing ground, with the November 2019 update currently on 18.4 percent of devices. Windows 10 May 2019 Update has declined to 4.6 percent, while Windows 10 October 2018 Update is powering just 1.2 percent of the devices.

Windows 10 version 21H1 just around the corner

Microsoft is now working around the clock on finalizing the next Windows 10 feature update, and according to AdDuplex, 0.5 percent of the Windows 10 devices out there are currently running preview builds of the operating system.

Windows 10 version 21H1 is projected to land in April or May, but this time it’ll be just a small pack of improvements similar to version 20H2.

“Based on feedback and learnings during the past year of extensive remote work, learning and play, version 21H1 will be delivered with servicing technology (like that used for the monthly update process and how 20H2 was delivered),” Microsoft has already announced.

“Windows 10, version 21H1 will have a scoped set of features improving security, remote access and quality. The features we are releasing in this update are focused on the core experiences that customers have told us they’re relying on most right now. So, we optimized this release to support our customers’ most pressing needs.”

The RTM build would be first delivered to insiders, most likely in the next weeks.
