Windows 10 April 2018 Update is broadly available for systems worldwide, and while adoption increased fast in the first months of general availability, it’s now getting slower as most computers have already been upgraded.

New data provided by AdDuplex for August 2018 shows that Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) is the leading choice in the Windows 10 ecosystem with a share of 86.7 percent.

Obviously, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) is the runner-up as the second most recent Windows 10 release with 7.8 percent, followed by Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) with 1.9 percent.

AdDuplex notes that most Windows 10 PCs have already been upgraded to the April 2018 Update, so it’s no surprise that its adoption is slowing down these days.

However, it’s expected to continue increasing in the coming months, especially as Microsoft discontinues older versions of Windows 10, with more computers then upgraded to the latest release in order to keep getting updates.

Surface Go

Microsoft’s smallest and most affordable Surface, the Surface Go, has also entered the list of models in the Surface family with a share of just 1.24 percent. As the cited source notes, it’s not quite a hit just yet, and this makes sense given it’s a low-cost configuration that’s not supposed to appeal to the mass market, but to education where most users just want to run basic tasks not requiring huge processing power.

“Surface Go has entered the market but it didn't make a huge splash in the Surface device lineup. At least not yet. It's in the second to last position with 1.24%, as of this report,” AdDuplex explains.

“The latest Surface Pro, on the other hand, is quickly approaching parity with the breakout hit of the Surface family — Surface Pro 3. SP3 has probably started to show its age and is being replaced by newer machines as it lost more than 1.3% since last month.”

The next Windows 10 version to launch is the Redstone 5 update, likely to be called October 2018 Update and due to be finalized as soon as the next month.
