Another 4 player co-op first-persion shooter game

Fatshark, the studio behind the highly-acclaimed Vermintide series, announced earlier this week another game in the same vein but in a different universe, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Just like Vermintide, Darktide is a first-person action shooter that pits four players against hordes of horrors.

In case you're wondering why Fatshark chose the Warhammer franchise, the answer can never be simpler: because people wanted it. Ever since it released Vermintide, fans bombarded the developer with requests to create a Warhammer 40,000 game in the same first-person co-op action genre.

It looks like Fatshark took the feedback to heart and revealed earlier this week its new IP, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. If you liked Vermintide, you're going to love Darktide as well since the studio is sticking to the same formula it knows and is known for.

Fatshark promises brutal melee combat but ranged gameplay will be brought to the same level to offer players different choices and playstyles through a more hybrid combat experience. The reveal trailer doesn't include any gameplay footage, so we'll have to take Fatshark's word for granted until we learn more about the game.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is set to release on Xbox Series X and PC in 2021. The game will support 4K resolution at 60 fps, at least on the Xbox Series X, but frame rates can go up to 120 fps depending on the resolution you select.

The game has already been listed on Steam, here is the blurb: “in the depths of the hive, the seeds of corruption threaten an overwhelming tide of darkness. A heretical cult known as the Admonition seeks to seize control of the planet Atoma Prime and lay waste to its inhabitants. It is up to you and your allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the city succumbs to Chaos.”

It's yet unclear whether or not Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be added to Xbox Game Pass at launch, although Microsoft said that all games that were revealed during its Xbox Games Showcase will be playable on launch day for free.
