Paradox has just revealed that its most important game for 2020 has just been delayed again. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will no longer hit PC and consoles in 2020, according to the publishers.

Instead, fans of the series will have to wait until next year to find out when exactly the game will be released. For now, we only know that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been officially delayed to 2021. You can find below the message signed by Andy Kipling (CEO of Hardsuit Labs) and Jakob Munthe (Product Segment Owner of RPG at Paradox Interactive).

Our goal has always been to deliver the best game possible, to immerse you into a Seattle re-imagined in the World of Darkness, and deliver a worthy successor to the original Bloodlines game. Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time. This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible.

This is not a decision taken lightly nor is it the first option we considered. We will share more information in the coming months on launch timing and other organizational changes that will help us achieve this goal.

We understand that this will be a disappointment to many of you, but we also appreciate how our ambition is echoed through many parts of the community. We hope you understand that, while difficult, this is the right call.

The sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines has had a troubled development cycle, as developer Hardsuit Labs and publisher Paradox had to delay the game twice. Although it was originally slated for an early 2020 release, the game's launch has been moved to 2021.

However, from what we've seen since the last E3, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was nowhere near what we would've expected, so we're definitely happy about the decision. Let's hope that the delay will help developer Hardsuit Labs come up with a better vision for the game, otherwise, the game might be delayed again.
