On October 22, 2015, Canonical had the great pleasure of unveiling the final release of Ubuntu 15.10, codenamed Wily Werewolf, which brought many updated technologies and applications.

As part of the Ubuntu 15.10 launch, numerous official Ubuntu flavors were released as well, including Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, and Ubuntu GNOME.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the new features of Ubuntu Kylin 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), the official Ubuntu flavor based on the Unity desktop environment and designed specifically for Chinese-speaking users.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.2, which offers support for the Intel Broxton SoC, Ubuntu Kylin 15.10 includes the latest software versions, such as the Mozilla Firefox 41.0 and Chromium 45.0 web browsers, as well as the famous LibreOffice 5.0.2 office suite.

"We are glad to announce the release of Ubuntu Kylin 15.10 (codename Wily Werewolf). In this release, we have fixed many internationalization and localization bugs in Ubuntu itself and bugs in software written by the Ubuntu Kylin team," reads the announcement.

What's new in Ubuntu Kylin 15.10

The Ubuntu Kylin maintainers updated Sogou Pinyin to version 2.0.0.0066, which is currently not included by default in the distribution, but it can be easily installed from the Ubuntu Kylin Software Center.

The Ubuntu Kylin theme was updated to version 1.4.0 and includes new Plymouth boot splash screen text and unity-greeter logo for Ubuntu Kylin 15.10, and the Ubuntu Kylin Default Settings tool was updated to version 1.3.10, a release that includes many changes.

Last but not least, the Ubuntu Kylin Software Center 1.3.6, Youker Assistant 2.0.3, and Indicator China Weather 2.1.3 utilities were included in Ubuntu Kylin 15.10. A few known issues remain unresolved in this release, so we recommend reading the errata for more details.
