As of today, the daily live images of the upcoming Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) operating system ship with the Yaru (formerly Communitheme) theme by default.

We've been waiting for this moment for a couple of weeks now and we're proud to be the first to report that the Yaru theme developed by various members of the Ubuntu Linux community has now finally been enabled by default in the daily builds of the Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) operating system.

Of course, we immediately took a screenshot tour of the Yaru theme on today's Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) daily build so we can show you how great it looks. We think it's a professional theme that matures Ubuntu to the next level, and it is definitely a step in the right direction for the look and feel of the Ubuntu Desktop.

Ubuntu 18.10 hits the streets on October 18, 2018

Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) is slowly but surely detaching itself from the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) cocoon to become the beautiful release everyone is expecting this fall. Recently powered by the Linux 4.17 kernel series, Ubuntu 18.10 has now adopted the Yaru theme by default and continues to receive new features.

For the Ubuntu 18.10 release, which will hit the streets on October 18, 2018, Canonical has prepared a plethora of enhancements, such as the ability to unlock your Ubuntu desktop with a fingerprint reader, Android integration with the KDE Connect Android app via GS Connect, as well as a brand-new installer.

Probably shipping with the forthcoming GNOME 3.30 desktop environment by default, Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) will also offer users much-better power consumption on laptops, improved media sharing capabilities, better compatibility with DLNA devices, and easy creation of SMB (Samba) shares.

Due to its newly adopted development cycle, Ubuntu 18.10 will only offer early adopters a beta release, which is expected to arrive at the end of next month on September 27, 2018. Until then, if you want to test drive Ubuntu 18.10, you'll have to download the latest daily builds. Enjoy the screenshot tour with the new Yaru theme below!
