Certain features would stop working, dev team announces

Tweetium Pro, which has until now been one of the most successful UWP Twitter clients for Microsoft’s modern platforms, has been discontinued and is no longer available for download.

The reason is the series of changes that Twitter is planning for the service next month, which would essentially include the removal of the Streaming API. This means that all clients relying on this API would be broken down, and the Tweetium developer says the Pro version would be impacted as well.

As a result, Tweetium Pro is no longer available, with certain features expected to be rendered useless once Twitter makes the said changes to the service.

Other features will continue to work flawlessly, but the developing team says Tweetium users should already consider the official Twitter app.

Twitter app, the long-term choice

“I'm sad to announce that Tweetium Pro is no longer being offered due to Twitter's impending shutdown of their Streaming API. Existing Pro users will continue to enjoy benefits until Twitter's change goes into effect. After that, push notifications and Connect+ will break,” the Tweetium developer announced.

“Other functionality such as multiple account support will continue to work after that. However, at this time, most Windows users will want to check out Twitter's official app, as Twitter is making it impossible for other apps to continue going forward.”

Tweetium Pro, which can be purchased from within the base Tweetium client, comes with several advanced features, including support for up to 7 accounts, push notifications, support for an evolved Connect view, and an integrated news reading client.

On the other hand, the official Twitter app for Windows 10 will probably remain the long-term choice for Twitter users, as the service makes such changes breaking down third-party clients every once in a while. The official app works on PCs, phones, Surface Hub, and HoloLens, and is obviously offered completely free of charge.
