14 DAY TRIAL // In an interview posted in the Feedback Hub on Windows 10, Dona Sarkar, the newly appointed head of the Windows Insider program after Gabe Aul decided to focus on another role within the company, provides us with a closer look at her favorite features on PCs and mobile devices and describes her work as the leader of one of the biggest community-driven efforts started by Microsoft.
First of all, when it comes to favorite features, Dona Sarkar says that, on PCs, there’s one tool that comes in very handy, especially because she installs lots of builds, some of which are buggy and lead to various issues. And unsurprisingly, she named one of the features that she developed as her top favorite.
“Practically speaking it’s Backup/Restore (and NOT just because it was my feature!). I install so many builds so often that it’s the only way to quickly get up and running and validating,” she said.
Transparent tiles for the win
But when it comes to other features, the transparent live tiles that are available on Windows Phone get her vote for being the most beautiful option on Windows 10.
“Aesthetically speaking, it’s transparent tiles on Windows Phone. The Insiders crew showed me just how creative they can be with layouts and now I’m incredibly inspired,” she added.
In case you’ve seen her on Twitter posting from an iPhone, there’s no need to be frustrated because the head of the Windows Insider program uses a device developed by a rival. Dona explained that she always needs to be in touch with what competition is doing, and added that a Lumia 950 is her everyday companion wherever she goes.
And in this interview, she adds that a Surface Book, an Asus Zenbook, and her phone setup are the combo that gets her “into work mode,” and also provides extreme portability wherever she goes.
“Highly mobile. I need the energy of other people around me to get anything done. Being locked in an office by myself has never worked for me so I tend to seek out open spaces like lobbies, lounges, kitchens, cafeterias, etc to loiter in to get it done,” Dona explains.
Still in her early days at the head of the Insider program, Dona has already won the Internet, so everyone sees her as the right choice when it comes to a successor to Gabe Aul. She has already promised some interesting things in the next months, so finger crossed to get them as soon as possible.
