14 DAY TRIAL // A few moments ago, Feral Interactive officially announced the release of the Total War: WARHAMMER addictive turn-based strategy video game for Linux and SteamOS operating systems.
Developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, Total War: WARHAMMER launched on Valve's Steam digital gaming distribution platform earlier this summer, on May 24, 2016, but only those with a Microsoft Windows PC were able to install and play it.
Today, November 22, you can also enjoy Total War: WARHAMMER on your Linux PCs, thanks to the hard work made by UK-based video game publisher Feral Interactive, the same company that brought us, Linux gamers, two other superb AAA titles a couple of months ago, namely Mad Max and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Total War: WARHAMMER works with both AMD and Nvidia GPUs
Because AMD Radeon support for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Mad Max is not officially endorsed, yesterday, November 21, 2016, Feral Interactive was kind enough to inform users of Linux-based operating systems about the minimum and recommended system requirements.
Long story short, you'll be able to play the game with both AMD Radeon and Nvidia graphics cards. Feral Interactive managed this time to implement support for the latest Mesa 13.0.1 3D Graphics Library compiled using LLVM 3.9 or newer for AMD Radeon GPU support. However, it looks like AMD GPUs are not supported on SteamOS.
The minimum requirements on Linux are a PC with an Intel Core i3-4130 running at 3.4GHz or AMD FX6300 processor running at 3.5GHz, with 4GB RAM, and at least an AMD Radeon R9 270 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphics cards with 1GB VRAM. Nvidia users should have the latest 367.28 video drivers installed.
"The following graphics cards are not supported: AMD Radeon HD 4xxx series, AMD Radeon HD 6xxx series, AMD Radeon HD 5xxx series, ATI X1xxx series, ATI HD2xxx series, Intel GMA series, Intel HD4000, Intel HD3000, NVIDIA 8xxx series, NVIDIA 9xxx series, NVIDIA 1xx series, NVIDIA 3xx series and NVIDIA 7xxx series," said Feral Interactive in the press announcement.
However, to fully enjoy the awesome effects of the game, you'll need a PC with an Intel Core i7-4770 processor running at 3.4 GHz, 8GB RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card with 4GB VRAM or better.
