Microsoft has recently announced Windows 10 November 2019 Update, or version 1909, and just like before, the company embraced a very cautious release strategy that involves pushing the update to devices in stages.

This approach is without a doubt the right one, as it can help reduce the impact certain bugs could have on whole sets of devices.

Basically, what Microsoft is aiming for with this release system is determine update compatibility with specific hardware configurations before actually offering the update. If any potential problems are discovered, the rollout is suspended before the update makes its way to more devices with the same hardware or software configuration, thus reducing the impact a bug could have.

But at the same time, this more cautious launch means that not everybody gets the November 2019 Update at once through the Windows Update channel, albeit there are alternative methods that help anyone install the new feature update without waiting.

What you need to know, however, is that using these methods could mean that your device might experience various bugs, as some skip Microsoft’s checks and let you install the November update no matter what.

The manual check for updates

The easiest way to download Windows 10 November 2019 Update is without a doubt the manual check for updates.

Microsoft made this release available for seekers, which means that anyone heading over to Windows Update and checking for updates should be offered the new update. The path is the following:

Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates
On the other hand, what you need to know is that the update might not show up if a safeguard hold is in place for your device. In other words, if Microsoft determined that an issue might affect your experience with the November update, it could block the device from getting the update, in which case you can turn to one of the next two update methods.

The update should become available in Windows Update on your device when the issue triggering the safeguard hold is resolved.

Media Creation Tool

This little app has been around for several Windows 10 releases already, but it still comes in super-handy to anyone who wants to update their devices to the latest feature update easily.

Or, as its name suggest, to create installation media, such as an USB drive, which can then be used for installing the same feature update on entire flees of its devices or computers without Internet access.

Using the Media Creation Tool is piece of cake, as the app was designed as a wizard, and you only need to follow the on-screen instructions to get everything ready.

One thing to keep in mind is should you decide to upgrade your PC (and not create installation media), the app could warn of compatibility issues, thus blocking you from completing the process.

Windows 10 version 1909 ISO images

The third and the least convenient method to install Windows 10 version 1909 is using the standalone ISO images for the whole thing. Microsoft has already released the official Windows 10 version 1909 ISOs, and you can download them using this link.

Of course, using this method involves additional steps to create installation media, such as an USB drive that allows you to upgrade the device, but it also allows users to perform a clean install, in which case all safeguard holds are ignored.

Keep in mind that performing a clean install could once again lead to a somewhat degraded performance should a bug affect your configuration, as all blocks are bypassed during the installation process of Windows 10 version 1909.
