Here are the three most voted Edge feature requests

Edge is Microsoft's big bet on the browser world in Windows 10, so the software giant is working to improve its features with new updates that are projected to debut in just a couple of months.

Right now, Edge is nothing more than a basic browser that indeed has some pretty great features (such as the annotation tool) but still lacks a number of more advanced capabilities, including support for extensions and other little things that matter, such as options to pin tabs.

Microsoft, however, is working with insiders to improve Edge, and an update is expected anytime soon in order to address feedback received from users.

So what are the features that users want to see in Edge? Below are the three most voted requests in the Windows 10 Feedback app.

#1 - Extension support

Extension support is undoubtedly the most requested feature for Windows 10, and Microsoft has already confirmed that it's working to add this feature in a future update.

Basically, Redmond is aiming to make Google Chrome extensions work in Windows 10 with zero modifications, so you should be able to fire up Edge, install a Chrome extension, and everything should be working flawlessly.

Extensions will eventually arrive on mobile devices too, and Microsoft will make them available in the store in a separate tab, just like music and TV content.

#2 - Ad blocker

Although extension support will open the door for new features, including ad blocking, users want a dedicated option in the browser that would make browsing cleaner and prevent any advertisement from showing up on sites.

Microsoft hasn't yet commented on this feature, but it's very unlikely to add it in Edge with a future update. And yet, with third-party extensions, users should be able to install ad blockers and benefit from a wider array of extra features, including options to white-list websites.

#3 - Custom download location

Believe it or not, but Microsoft missed one small yet extremely important feature in Edge browser. Edge comes with its very own download manager, but the browser is missing an option to change the default download location.

“Let us choose were to save our downloads, not just to the default folder,” the feature request posted in the Feedback app reads.

The first major update that could bring improvements to Microsoft Edge is expected to arrive in October, alongside other important enhancements for Windows 10.
