Concept envisions a more modern tablet mode

Windows 10 is an operating system that’s built for more device categories out there, not just for the desktop. While most people continue to use it with a mouse and keyboard, Windows 10 also supports touch input, and because it’s aimed at 2-in-1s and tablets, Microsoft is making a bit deal about this.

The tablet mode in Windows 10, however, has never gained traction, and at some points, not even Microsoft seemed to be truly interested in it.

I mean, I do use Windows 10 with touch input, but the tablet mode is letting me down when I expect it the least. And if you ask me, in some ways I liked Windows 8.1 more than Windows 10’s tablet mode, so unless Microsoft changes something to make it more advanced, there’s a good chance its adoption would stay low.

Hello, tablet mode!

This concept that was published recently by Zee-Al-Eid Ahmad Rana envisions a more modern tablet mode, and it all starts with a new Start screen experience with refreshed live tiles. In some ways, this tablet mode looks more appealing than the current implementation, but Microsoft itself needs to improve every single little feature of the operating system to make it feel more natural on a tablet.

Until this happens, tablets running Android and iOS continue to dominate the market, and it’s hard to believe that anything can change in the short term.

The next feature update for Windows 10 is version 20H2, and it is projected to launch in the fall with minor improvements under the hood.

As far as the tablet mode is concerned, nothing big is coming, so you’d better not hold your breath for a massive overhaul of this particular feature that comes bundled with the operating system.
